The Fernhurst Centre is both a Community Centre and Internet Cafe run and managed entirely by volunteers. It has lots to offer including:

A varied refreshment menu including  Cappuccino -  Latte - Cafetiere - Fruit Teas etc
Broadband internet, WI-Fi - no booking required
All computers have a wide range of software
A3 colour printer
Laminating facilty
A range of courses both IT and leisure
Help Point - free telephone direct to Council Offices to report problems or request assistance.

Don't forget - Broadband usage  is Free after Three!  Printing charges wi
ll still be made.


Have you recently bought an iPad and would like a little help - we have a new course 'An Introduction to using your iPad' setting up - connecting to WI Fi and much more besides. Two 2 hour sessions at £20. Wednesday 7 and 14 May 0930 - 11 30 am or Monday 2 - 9 June 2 - 4 pm.  Book now to secure your place on this very popular course.


If you haven’t got and iPad but have a Tablet using the Android system we have a course for you.  'An Introduction to using your Android Tablet'Wednesday 22 and 29 January 9.30 - 1130 am.  This course is now full but we have new dates are Monday 12 and 19 May 2.30 - 4.30 pm. This is a new course and is proving as popular as the course for  iPads so book now to avoid disappointment.

New! Locker Hooking Workshop from Totally Textiles: Locker hooking is a traditional craft that has many applications both decorative and practical.   Using a simple tool called a Locker needle hook, and some canvas, you can make colourful rugs, wall hangings, boxes and bangles.  All equipment will be provided. Wednesday 4 June 2 - 5 pm £20.  All places must be booked in advance at the Centre

Coming soon ‘Painting with Wool’ a weaving workshop for Beginners and Improvers.

Recycle your IT equipment for charity: If you have recently upgraded your IT equipment or are thinking you might, the Fernhurst Centre will recycle your old computer equipment for charity. Email us at ferncent@gmail.com (putting RECYCLING in the subject line) with the details of your laptops, keyboards, desktop PCs, screens & mobile phones and we will offer free local collection or arrange for you to bring the equipment into the Centre. All personal data on devices will be removed and destroyed by professionals during the recycling.  Click here for more information.
New Workshop: Get Hooked on Crochet: If you don't know one end of a crochet hook from the other then this is the course for you! Learn the basic techniques and stitches, under the watchful eye of Christine Asbridge.  This course is a series of three 2-hour workshops at a total cost of £30 (including a hook and ball of wool) Three consecutive Wednesdays 23 April - Wednesday 7 May 9.15-11.15 am.
